In the hospital for a few more days. Monday morning Elsie will have a procedure to put in a central line (think super IV). The bummer is she's stuck there over the weekend. She's receiving intravenous antibiotics and you can't stop them once they've started. She will still be on them once she's discharged. Either a nurse will come to the house to give them or they will teach me how to do it.
So Elsie is now in a new room in a new wing of the hospital...with a new do! We were able to wash this matted hair yesterday.
The tangles were unbearable and it was time to start evening it out. So I asked for scissors and started chopping. It needs a little help, but she's still so cute!

Please ask for a plastic surgeon AND a wound care specialist for this. In my experience, the scabs should probably be removed since wounds should be kept soft and moist so they can heal, which they do from the inside out. This would also allow the wounds to drain. After going through MRSA with my child's scalp, and watching her skin erode away, I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about now.
Regardless of the treatment you choose to pursue, I wish you all the best and I'm very, very, very happy whenever I read that your daughter is seizure-free! You did a wonderful job surviving such a long away-stay hospitalization with her.
